It’s been two years since I first visited Guatemala. Just as it was then, it must be now in the throes of Semana Santa, a festival that holds prime importance in the lives of Mayan Christians. With a history complete with blood and gore, when Christianity was forced upon the Mayans, they made it their own- adopting bits of it that aligned with their philosophies, and marrying it with their own brand of black magic and shamanism.
